After budget padding scandal, Jibrin offers to go into lecturing

House of Representatives member, Abdulmumin Jibrin, who is at the centre of the budget padding scandal has announced his plans to go into lecturing to offer academic service pro bono to any university or institution of higher learning in Abuja.

He said, for a start, he would like to lecture final year and post graduate students, adding that he would not mind starting immediately in case any university, institution, NGO or CSOs is interested in his free offer.
He admitted on his Twitter handle on Wednesday, saying: “I am offering myself for lecturing and capacity building for higher institutions.”
He said it may sound off beat that a lawmaker is taking a time off his pressing schedule to engage in lecturing which is a task considered as drudgery.
“I have missed lecturing; classroom and lecture theatre and I couldn't help but display my enthusiasm and predilection for tutorship to the public. My first love is lecturing. After all, my childhood ambition was to be a Professor in my 30’s. I have probably lost that one but won others.
“At the risk of sounding immodest, I will candidly say my memory is fresh enough to deal with any module in Political Science, International Relations, Diplomacy, Strategic Studies, Leadership, Nigerian Legislature, Nigerian budget and Public Finance.”
Jibrin further added: “I can also offer lectures and capacity-building for CSO and NGOs, especially on budget tracking, Legislative Studies, Public Finance, etc, for at least 25 in all the modules, students will have an added advantage of tapping from my cognate experience and life challenges.”
