The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has rescued a mother and her three children, aged 8, 3, and 9 months, following a domestic violence incident.

Police arrested the father, 45-year-old Mr. David Tersoo, a contractor, after receiving a distress call on September 9, 2025.

He was said to have been found with substances suspected to be illicit drugs and reportedly locked himself behind a bulletproof door while armed during the attempted arrest.

According to FCT Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, the Commissioner of Police, CP Adewale Ajao, immediately deployed the Divisional Police Officer of Mpape Division and operatives from the Command’s Gender Unit to the scene in collaboration with the Ministry of Women Affairs.

She said, “The children were rescued, one of them found with visible bruises. Their mother was later traced and placed in protective custody with her children.

“The suspect, identified as Mr. David Tersoo, 45 years old, a contractor with a history of domestic abuse, had locked himself behind a bulletproof door while armed.

“After sustained efforts, officers secured his arrest without casualties. A pump-action firearm, white powder, and other suspected illicit substances were recovered. He has been taken in for drug testing as part of ongoing investigations”.

Adeh said the CP Ajao commended the Ministry of Women Affairs and the vigilant neighbours whose swift intervention helped to prevent tragedy.

He urged victims of domestic violence to speak out and assured residents of the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and ensuring justice.

He said Investigation is ongoing on the matter. (The Nation)
