Tragedy struck Rahama village in Soba Local Government Area when a 25-year-old man, Ibrahim Idris, reportedly died following severe torture at the hands of members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF).
According to accounts from residents, Idris was arrested on September 6, 2025, on allegations of shopbreaking and theft.
While in the custody of the JTF, he was allegedly beaten repeatedly, sustaining serious injuries to his head and body. Despite being rushed to Mazadu Nursing and Maternity Home Rahama, Idris was pronounced dead by a medical doctor.
The brutality of the incident has sparked outrage in the community, raising questions about the conduct of some members of the Civilian JTF.
Six JTF operatives Adamu Umar, Surajo Hassan, Idris Muhammad, Bashari Umar, Sabo Haruna, and Alabaru Yahaya alongside the owner of the alleged stolen property, Buhari Khalid, have been taken in for questioning.
Sources said police have launched a formal investigation into the circumstances surrounding Idris’s death.
His body was released to his family for burial according to Islamic rites, without a post-mortem examination. (Zagazola)
