Unknown gunmen on Tuesday abducted a Kaduna State House of Assembly member, Hon. Ibrahim Samaila, representing Tudun Wada Constituency.
Mr Ibrahim, the Chairman House Committee on Education, was allegedly kidnapped at gunpoint in Abakpa, a suburb in the Kaduna North Local Government Area of the state.
According to an eyewitness account, “The kidnappers came in a Sienna Car and within few seconds their other gang members joined them and whisked the lawmaker away.”
The eyewitness added that “the kidnappers, armed with sophisticated weapons, shot at the vehicle of a ‘pure water’ vendor who was passing by, thinking that he wanted to block them.”
Mr Ibrahim is a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ibrahim’s abductors were said to have contacted his immediate family and they threatened them not to involve police in the matter, but to make every effort to pay whatever ransom they are demanding.
A family source disclosed that Ibrahim has gotten in touch with his wife through the kidnappers but he was said to have warned her not involve police in the matter. It was, however, not clear if the abductors have demanded any specific amount as ransom.
