New milestone for FUTO Alumni as Anambra Chapter joins fold; Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait indicate interest

The Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) Alumni Association marked a new milestone as the proposed Anambra State Chapter held its first official meeting virtually via WhatsApp call on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at 9:00 p.m.

The meeting, anchored by the interim leadership team comprising Ezeanoro Jennifer (Coordinator), Obiajulu Ikechukwu (Assistant Coordinator), and Okonkwo Somtoochukwu (Secretary), was attended by distinguished members of the National Executive Council (NEC) led by the National President, Engr. Prof. Laz Uzoechi.

The agenda featured opening prayers, member introductions, and an opening address by the Coordinator, Ms. Jennifer. A key highlight was the formal inauguration of the Interim Executive Committee by Prof. Uzoechi, symbolizing the official takeoff of the Anambra State Alumni Chapter. Members also deliberated on aligning their activities with the modus operandi of the National Body, and unanimously agreed that November 2025 would be an ideal period for the chapter’s physical inauguration.

In his remarks, Prof. Uzoechi commended the Anambra FUTO Alumni for their initiative and commitment, assuring them of the NEC’s support. “The Anambra Chapter is a shining example of what dedication and unity can achieve. The NEC is fully behind you, and together we will continue to strengthen our alumni bond both at home and abroad,” he said. He further noted with delight that alumni in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Kuwait have indicated interest in forming international chapters, a development he described as a sign of the global strength and influence of the FUTO Alumni family.

Speaking earlier, Coordinator Ezeanoro Jennifer expressed gratitude to members for their participation and reaffirmed the chapter’s dedication to fostering unity, professional networking, and impactful community projects within Anambra State. “This chapter belongs to all of us. Together, we will build a strong platform that connects professionals, supports one another, and gives back meaningfully to society,” she assured.

The meeting ended with closing prayers, a strong sense of camaraderie, and the setting of a date for the next gathering, as members look forward with excitement to their landmark physical inauguration later this year.
