The opening ceremony of the 9th edition of the National Youth Games tagged “Asaba 2025” started off on a colourful note on Friday in Asaba, Delta State.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Team Ekiti was clothed in beautiful yellow track suits with colourful sneakers to match at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.

Some of the athletes displayed their gymnastics skills and beautiful moves while matching round the stadium.

NAN reports that 34 states and the Federal Capital Territory are participating in the games.

Reacting, the Technical Advisor to Ekiti Governor on Sports Development, Olusola Osetoba thanked Governor Biodun Oyebanji for the opportunity given to the state athletes to compete with their counterparts from other states.

Osetoba said governor Oyebanji had made adequate provision for the welfare of the state contingents before and during the games.

The technical advisor urged the state team to show commitment, determination and composure during their individual games to win laurels for the state.

“I want to encourage Team Ekiti to show commitment and determination to win laurels for the state.

“I want to thank our amiable governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, for his financial and moral supports to ensure that Ekiti is well represented at the National Youth Games in Asaba,” she said. (NAN)
