The Akwa Ibom State Government has revoked all land allocations made since Governor Umo Eno assumed office in May 2023, including government-acquired lands.
In a notice issued on Monday, the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Uko Udom, SAN, explained that the action is to enable the revalidation of all land allocations and migration to the new digital Akwa-GIS platform.
Udom said, “Notice is hereby given of the revocation of all land allocations in Akwa Ibom State made from the 29th day of May, 2023, till date, inclusive of all government-acquired land, for the purpose of revalidating allocations and interests and for migrating to the digital Akwa-GIS platform.”
He stated further that all fresh land allocations and transactions during the transition would be suspended for one month, while the Directorate of Lands would be temporarily shut.
“Over this period of transition, all fresh allocations of government land and transactions on government land stand suspended for a period month, during which period the Directorate of Lands shall be shut.”
The revalidation process shall be for a period of two months and shall be carried out by the GIS office at the Ministry of Lands and Town Planning. Any land allocation, instrument, or interest not revalidated within this period shall be deemed invalid,” the Attorney-General said. (The PUNCH)
