Ademola Lookman, Nigerian soccer star
Nigerian winger, Ademola Lookman, has become a hot commodity in the Premier League, with five top clubs reportedly showing interest in buying him over after his move to Inter Milan collapsed.
According to TBR Football, Lookman’s representatives have held talks with Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, and Manchester City.
The 27-year-old, who was named African Player of the Year, has been pushing for an exit from Atalanta and had been on the verge of a £52 million transfer to Inter.
However, after Inter’s final bid was rejected and the club decided to move on, Lookman is now looking for a return to the Premier League.
With Arsenal and Chelsea having recently bolstered their attacking options, Tottenham Hotspur is seen as the most likely frontrunner for Lookman’s signature. Spurs missed out on their top target, Eberechi Eze, who is now expected to join Arsenal.
This, combined with their ongoing search for a winger, makes Lookman an ideal and more affordable target.
Manchester City’s interest is contingent on the potential departure of Savinho, while Aston Villa’s ability to afford Lookman’s transfer fee is in doubt due to the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules (PSR).
Lookman’s return to England would mark a new chapter in his career. He previously had spells with Everton, Fulham, and Leicester City, where he struggled to replicate the form he had shown in Italy.
Last season, he scored 20 goals and provided seven assists for Atalanta, including a historic hat-trick in the Europa League final.
Talks between Lookman’s camp and interested clubs are already underway, with Spurs expected to lead negotiations in the coming days.
Whether any side will meet Atalanta’s valuation remains the key question, but Lookman’s return to England now looks increasingly likely. (BusinessDay)
