Police shortlists 110,469 applicants for aptitude test

The Police Service Commission says it has shortlisted 110,469 applicants across the country to take part in its upcoming aptitude test.

Mike Okiro, the chairman of the Police Service Commission on Friday confirmed this.

He said the aptitude test for recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force will hold on Monday through Wednesday.

Speaking at a news conference in Abuja, the nation’s capital, Okiro said out of the 338,250 applicants that took part in the exercise, 110,469 were shortlisted for the office of Cadet ASPs, Cadet Inspector and Police Constables.

More than 911,438 people had applied for the jobs. However, the Police force is seeking to recruit just 10,000 personnel into the Force.

Okiro said that aptitude test for cadet ASPs for both general duty and specialists will begin on August 22 while that of Cadet Inspectors for both general duty and specialists will hold on August 23.

He said that the test for police constables for both cadres would take place on August 24.

According to him, document and physical screening of specialists is scheduled for August 29 after they will have taken the aptitude tests.

He assured Nigerians that the exercise would be transparent and all candidates would receive equal opportunities.

President Muhammadu Buhari had in 2015 approved the recruitment of 10,000 policemen at the National Security Summit in Abuja.

The recruitment is expected to strengthen and re-energise the force to tackle more security challenges facing the country. (TV360 Nigeria)
