By GARBA MUHAMMAD
The Arewa Cohesion for Peace, Unity and Development Initiative has expressed grief over the passing of the Emir of Zuru, Major General Muhammadu Sani Sami (Rtd), Sami Gomo II, who died in the early hours of Sunday, August 17, 2025.
In a condolence message issued in Kaduna, the Director General of the movement, Dr. Abdullahi Idris, described the late Emir as a man of sterling virtues whose humility, wisdom and leadership endeared him to his people and all who came in contact with him.
Dr. Idris noted that the late General was one of the respected northern elders on whom the organization relied for wise counsel in its mission to promote peace, unity and development in the region.
He recalled the Emir’s distinguished military career, which climaxed with his service as the Military Governor of Bauchi State, before ascending the throne of Zuru Emirate, where he served as a first-class traditional ruler.
“His patriotism and sense of duty never wavered. Even in retirement, he continued to serve with dignity and selflessness, leaving behind a legacy of service and honour,” Dr. Idris said.
He prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the late Emir’s shortcomings, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and give his family, the people of Zuru Emirate, and Kebbi State the fortitude to bear the loss.
