The National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) has criticised the composition of the Customs board and the controversial single window, calling on the Federal Government to review the Customs Act.
Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, founder of NAGAFF, who made the call while speaking with newsmen in Lagos, also called on the Federal Government to change the name, Customs and Excise Management Act (CEMA), saying that it was obsolete and needs to be changed.
The call was coming ahead of a nationwide stakeholders’ interaction with the Nigeria Customs Service on the review of CEMA.
The stakeholders’ engagement holds on August 18, 25 and September 1, in Lagos, Kano and Port Harcourt respectively.
“CRFFNis supposed to be on that board, NIMASA needs to be on the board of Customs, Nigerian Shippers Council is also supposed to be on the board as well.”
He pointed out that a group in NAGAFF had been brainstorming for the past three days to come up with a position on how to drive home their demand. (independentnig.com)
