Mrs. Patricia Chinyere Okereke nee Onwubiko, the eldest sister of Comrade Emmanuel Nnadozie Onwubiko, the founder of the prominent pro-democracy and civil rights advocacy group; HUMAN RIGHTS WRITERS ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA (HURIWA) will be committed to Mother Earth on Friday August 29th 2025, at her late husband's compound in Ndiuche Ochie-uno in Arondizuogu, IDEATO-NORTH LGA of Imo State.

The families of late Mazi Osonduagwuike Okorieocha Onwubiko and Late Mazi Godday Okereke jointly announced the date for the final rites for Mrs. Okereke even as the Executive Chairman of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Brigadier General Mohammed Buba Marwa has in a condolence letter presented during a visit to the family of Comrade Emmanuel Nnadozie Onwubiko prayed for the peaceful repose of Mrs. Patricia Okereke nee Onwubiko whom he called a phenomenal Christian mother and a model of Christian excellence.

Brigadier General Mohammed Buba Marwa in his LETTER OF CONDOLENCE stated as follows:

"I am writing to convey my sincere condolences over the recent death of your sister, Mrs. Patricia Okereke.

2. Kindly accept my deepest sympathy and help convey the same to your family.

3. The death of a loved one is a trying period for the human family. But as we have come to understand as mortals, death is a necessary end and a home call by God that we must all submit to.

4. As such, we take solace in the life and times of Mrs. Patricia Okereke who was an epitome of good parenting, honesty, enduring values and service to humanity, qualities she did not fail to bequeath to her children and grandchildren.

5. In this moment of grief, be reminded that society celebrates Mrs. Okereke as a woman who had acquitted herself well of her earthly assignments before departing this world.

6. Her passage, no doubt, is painful for the family to bear. I pray that God Almighty will grant you, the family and her community the fortitude to bear the loss.

7. Once again, accept my condolences."

The family of Mrs. Patricia Okereke has fixed the 28th of August for the wake-keep, just as the burial is scheduled for August 29th, after a Christian service at the Saint Paul’s Anglican Church Ndiuche Ochie-uno ARONDIZUOGU. Amongst Prominent Nigerians who have sent their condolences to the family of Comrade Emmanuel Nnadozie Onwubiko includes the members of the Federal House of Representatives for Ideato North and Ideato South, Honorable Ikenga Ugochinyere, the immediate past governor of Enugu State, Rights. Honourable Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, former Senator for Kaduna Central, Senator Shehu Sani, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu of Abia North Senatorial zone, amongst a litany of several other friends of the Onwubiko family.
