Ejiogu commends group on moves to unite Owerri zone

The immediate past Secretary to the Government of Imo State (SGI), Sir Jude Ejiogu, has given kudos to leadership of Owerri Zonal Agenda Group (OZAG) for their efforts to sensitise the people of the zone on the need to come together as one block for optimal development of the area.

Sir Ejiogu gave this commendation on Sunday, August 14, 2016 while receiving in audience the leadership of the group who paid him a courtesy visit in his country home, Umuakuru Emekuku in Owerri North council area of Imo State.
The former Chief Scribe of the state expressed happiness that reputable individuals from the zone have taken bold steps to canvass for the unity and corporation of all their sons and daughters who as a result of one interest or the other, decided to stay far off from their people, saying that the quest to remain united should be every person’s priority.
According to Sir Ejiogu, the sensitisation should not be limited to Owerri Zone alone since it concerns the interest of the state. He advised them to take the campaign to every nook and crannies of the three geo-political zones, expressing optimism that it would go a long way in sustaining the peace and harmony existing so far in the state.
He therefore admonished them to be focused and determined if their objectives must be achieved, appealing to them to resist any form of inducement that is capable of bringing to a halt, their quest to make a difference in the zone, while calling on every individual from the zone to give the group the needed support to succeed.
The leader of the group, Hon. Amanze Nwike, stated that it is time for all the leaders in Owerri zone to come together to develop their area, expressing regret that the zone despite its importance in the state has become a shadow of itself.
According to him, the quest for an Orlu or Okigwe man to clinch the number one position in the state would rather become a mirage if people from Owerri Zone deny them support. He wondered why the same zone that has contributed immensely for the growth of the state has not produced a Governor apart from Senator Evan Enwerem that served for just fourteen (14) months since the creation of Imo State in 1976.
He therefore affirmed that until the leaders of Owerri Zone come together to form a front, it would be impossible for any of their sons or daughters to become the Governor of the state.
