There was jubilation in the Oshodi area of Lagos yesterday when a young woman gave birth on the roadside. Eyewitnesses said the woman was travelling from Ajah to an undisclosed destination when she suddenly went into labour. Several women nearby reportedly rushed to her aid.

One witness described the delivery as “God’s intervention,” noting that the timely assistance of the women ensured a safe birth. Efforts to reach the woman’s husband by phone initially failed, prompting friends to step in. He later arrived at the scene shortly after the baby was delivered.

Passersby cheered and congratulated the new mother, while market women hailed the birth as a sign of divine favour. (The Guardian)
