10-year-old boy dies after fight among minors in Niger




The Niger State Police Command has confirmed the death of a 10-year-old boy, Abubakar Lawal, following a fight among minors in Karaku village, Rafi Local Government Area.

According to sources, he incident occurred on Aug. 11 at about 5:30 p.m., when Lawal and another boy, Hassan Adamu Umar, 9, were returning home from grazing sheep along Karaku bush path and were confronted by four minors Musa Aliyu, 10; Umaru Abdullahi, 6; Maryam Abdullahi, 10; and Fulaira Jika, 4.

The sources said a fight ensued, during which Musa Aliyu allegedly hit both Lawal and Umar with a stick, causing severe injuries.

The victims were taken to the General Hospital, Kagara, where Lawal was confirmed dead, while Umar was admitted and responding to treatment.

The corpse was deposited at the hospital’s morgue for autopsy, while investigation into the case was ongoing. (Zagazola)
