Paris FC forward, Moses Simon, has expressed heartfelt appreciation to his former club, FC Nantes, after receiving a special tribute during their friendly match against Paris FC on Saturday, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Simon, who enjoyed a successful six-season career with Nantes before leaving this summer for a fee worth €7m, was honoured by the club and fans at the Stade de la Beaujoire during Paris FC’s 3-2 win.
The 29-year-old returned to Nantes for the first time since his departure and was warmly received with a guard of honour and applause from the fans before he was presented a special plaque.
Now plying his trade with newly promoted side Paris FCand having played two pre-season games, Simon shared his excitement on social media, thanking the club and fans for the reception.
“Thank you for the warm welcome at FC Nantes. Honoured by the tribute and grateful to play again in front of the amazing Nantes fans. It was also special to reunite with my former teammates,” he said via X.
Simon was a key figure during his time at Nantes, helping the club win the Coupe de France in 2022 and consistently delivering strong performances in Ligue 1.
He joined Nantes initially on loan from Levante in 2019 before making the move permanent a year later, went on to make 201 appearances for Les Canaris, scoring 37 goals and providing 42 assists.
During his time at the Stade de la Beaujoire, he became a fan favourite, helping the club avoid relegation on multiple occasions and playing key roles in their back-to-back Coupe de France final appearances in 2022 and 2023.
The Super Eagles star also enjoyed a strong 2024/25 season, contributing eight goals and 10 assists as Nantes finished 13th in Ligue 1, six points clear of the relegation zone. (PUNCH)
