U.S. to assist Nigeria develop new security plan

The United States Government has pledged to help the Nigerian Government develop a civilian security plan and enhance emergency response in Nigeria’s northeast region.

The U.S. Acting Deputy Chief of Mission, Mr Alan Tousignant, said that the assistance would be in the form of technical support.
He made the promise at a meeting with Nigeria’s Minister of Interior, Lieutenant General Abdulrahman Dambazau (Rtd), held in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory on Monday.
Mr Tousignant explained further that the technical assistance was part of the security governance initiative of the U.S. government.
General Dambazau, on his part, stated that the partnership would not include the provision of equipment for troops in the northeast. (Channels TV)
