South-South PDP Women to hold prayer summit in Asaba

No fewer than 200 women from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the South-South geo-political zone of Nigeria are expected in Asaba, the Delta State capital, onSeptember 18for a prayer summit.

Deaconess Roli Nere Uduaghan, the wife of the Delta State Governor, disclosed this while responding to an appeal to host the prayer summit in Asaba by women leaders from the zone, led by Chief Elizabeth Essien who paid her a courtesy visit in Asabaonat the weekend.

Deaconess Uduaghan said that the state would host the prayer session because of the importance of prayers for peace and development of the nation.

She noted that Nigeria needs prayers, especially at this time of its national development for peace to prevail in the country.

The governor’s wife urged women in the country to always engage in prayers for the peaceful co-existence in the country.

Deaconess Uduaghan also urged the women “to see Nigeria as a son and prophesy over it” for peace to continue to reign.

According to her, “this is not the time for talking but time for everybody to go back to God in prayer because it is only God who can really change the present situation of the country for the best. We need to call upon God sincerely and I know God in His infinite mercy respond to our cry.”

Deaconess Uduaghan commended the women for the initiative, adding that it was a welcomed development. She said that each state in the zone would be expected to send 20 delegates to the prayer summit, while the host state is expected to send more delegates.

Earlier, the leader of the team, Chief Essien, had said that the essence of the courtesy visit was to associate themselves with the wonderful job being executed by the governor’s wife in her pet projects in the state.

She commended Deaconess Uduaghan’s for passion for the less privileged women, children and widows in the state.

Chief Essien noted that her women and widows empowerment schemes have been very helpful to women in the state and urged her to sustain the good job she is doing in the state.

She then appealed to her to Chief Essien to host the prayer session, saying that it is only prayers that will solve the challenges facing the country today.
