Pakistan’s military announced on Friday that it had intercepted and killed a group of militants attempting to cross into the country from Afghanistan overnight, describing them as “Indian-sponsored.”
According to the military’s public relations wing, the fighters were engaged with “precise” fire during the operation, which also led to the recovery of weapons, ammunition and explosives.
Pakistan and India, both nuclear-armed neighbours with a decades-long history of hostilities, frequently trade accusations of harbouring or aiding insurgents. Islamabad has repeatedly accused New Delhi of supporting militant activities inside Pakistan — a charge India denies.
Tensions between the two countries remain heightened, with security forces on both sides maintaining tight vigilance along their respective borders.(Arise News)
