The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the tragic death of a student of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, who was shot during a sign-out party.

The deceased, identified as Babalola Marvelous Ishola, was reportedly found lifeless by the roadside at about 5:38 p.m. on Wednesday.

This was disclosed by Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert through their Official X handle on Thursday.

Citing sources, Zagazola stated that the discovery was made after a report was received about a male corpse lying unattended by the roadside.

A team of security operatives were immediately dispatched to the scene, where the victim was identified through a search of his person.

The Dean of Student Affairs at LAUTECH also confirmed that Babalola was a student of the institution.

His body has been deposited at the morgue of the LAUTECH University Teaching Hospital for preservation.

Following the incident, The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) Monitoring Unit, launched a sting operation which led to the arrest of sixteen suspects in connection with the shooting.
