Troops of Operation Safe Haven OPSH in action
Troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) have successfully rescued eight abducted passengers, including a serving soldier, following a swift response to an attack by armed criminals along the Jos-Makurdi Road in Plateau State.
According to a report by security analyst, Zagazola Makama, the abduction occurred at about 10:30 p.m. on August 2, near Rafin Sanyi in Riyom Local Government Area, when gunmen ambushed an ash-coloured Sharon vehicle conveying the victims.
Troops of the OPSH were alerted and swiftly rushed to the venue and carried out the necessary tactical operations, rescuing eight abducted people, including one serving soldier.
The rescued seven abducted civilians have since gone back to their homes, while the only soldier went back to the barracks.
Contacted yesterday for comments, the Media Information Officer (MIO), Major Samson Zhakom, urged The Guardian reporter to forward the story to him for proper perusal before commenting.
Having done that, the reporter waited for one hour and called back the military information man but he did not pick the phone.
After another hour, The Guardian man called again but the phone was switched off. (The Guardian)
