Beninese national arrested for alleged ritual activity at accident scene in Ogun

A 55-year-old man has been arrested in Ogun State for allegedly attempting to remove ashes from the burnt remains of a fatal accident victim in what is suspected to be a ritual-related act.

Zagazola Makama learnt that the incident occurred on Friday at Jibowu Village, where Ogunsola Ayobami, 45, died in a car crash and was burnt beyond recognition.

Later that evening, at about 5:45 p.m., the deceased’s sister, Ogunsola Abosede, reportedly caught the suspect, identified as Danhosou Djeyon, a Beninese national, at the scene of the crash allegedly gathering the ashes of the corpse.

Security operatives were immediately alerted, and the suspect was arrested at the scene.

The location was documented, photographs were taken, and exhibits recovered for further investigation.

Authorities say investigation is ongoing to determine the motive behind the act and whether the suspect is linked to any broader criminal network. (Zagazola)
