Gov. Uba Sani reshuffles cabinet, swaps Attorney General and Internal Security Commissioners

By GARBA MUHAMMAD

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has approved a minor but strategic reshuffle within his cabinet, swapping the positions of two prominent commissioners in a move aimed at strengthening governance and enhancing public service delivery.

According to a statement issued on Monday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ibraheem Musa, Monday August 4th, 2025, the Honourable Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Sule Shuaibu (SAN), has been reassigned to the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs. In a corresponding move, Barrister James Kanyip (PhD), who previously held that portfolio, will now serve as the new Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.

Governor Sani said the reshuffle was necessary to “re-energize the machinery of government for optimal performance” and tasked both commissioners with bringing their experience, integrity, and professionalism to bear in their new positions.

“The Governor has high expectations of both officials and has urged them to approach their new roles with fairness, total commitment, and integrity,” the statement read in part.

The governor expressed confidence in the capacity of the duo to deliver on their mandates, describing them as seasoned professionals with a deep understanding of governance and public service.

He concluded by offering prayers for God’s guidance and protection as they undertake their new assignments.

The changes are seen by observers as a tactical effort to strengthen key areas of the state’s administration, particularly justice delivery and internal security two portfolios regarded as critical to peace, rule of law, and public trust in government.
