Suspected burglars have broken into the residence of Justice Olukayode Arowosegbe of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria (NICN) in Akure, Ondo State, stealing valuable household items.

The incident occurred at the judge’s residence along Ondo Road in Akure South Local Government Area.

The suspects, identified as Michael John, Yusuf Mohammed, and Samson Gini, reportedly gained illegal access to the property and carted away several belongings belonging to the judge’s family.

Confirming the development on Sunday, the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, said the suspects were apprehended following a detailed investigation launched after Justice Arowosegbe filed a formal complaint.

Lawal noted that the suspects were tracked and arrested at their hideout after a painstaking investigation by operatives of the command, adding that they confessed to the crime and were linked to a series of similar burglaries along Ondo Road.

“Following swift investigation, the three suspects confessed to several burglaries and the theft of electrical wires. Our investigation is still ongoing,” the Police Commissioner said.

In a related development, the police arrested another suspect, Michael Olasukanmi, alleged to be a member of a notorious robbery and motorcycle-snatching gang.

Olasukanmi, 37, was arrested at his hideout on Temikolowa Street in Yaba, Ondo town, by officers of the Yaba Division.

Lawal said the suspect had been on the police watchlist over several violent motorcycle thefts at gunpoint. Items recovered from him include a black police beret, a pair of gloves, three locally-made pots containing charms, a local sponge, and vandalized electrical cables.

“Preliminary findings suggest the suspect may be part of a broader criminal syndicate involved in coordinated vehicle theft and cable vandalism,” CP Lawal said.

He added that the suspect is currently in custody and will be transferred to the State Intelligence and Tactical Response Squad (SITRS) in Akure for further investigation.

Lawal assured that all suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations. (The Nation)
