Traditional rulers in Odo-Otin Local Government have intervened in the matter between the Alasi of Asi, Oba Isaac Oyewale and the speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Adewale Egbedun.

The Olokuku of Okuku, Oba Abioye Oyebode, who is the President of Odo-Otin Local Government Traditional Council, on Friday, told our correspondent that steps have been taken to resolve the matter.

The speaker was said to have threatened the traditional ruler in his hometown, Alasi in a conversation recorded by the wife of the monarch.

Olokuku explained that traditional rulers in the area have met and they have invited their colleague, Alasi, to find lasting solution to the feud.

He said, “We had a meeting in my palace here on Thursday and after the meeting, some royal fathers that attended mentioned the rift between Alasi of Asi, Oba Oyewale and the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon. Adewale Egbedun. The royal fathers that were with me here at the time include, Oloyan of Oyan, Atapara of Iyeku and Alagbeye of Agbeye.

“All the monarchs present disclosed what they heard regarding Alasi. But concerning the Speaker, they could not find any fault with him. We all resolved that by 4pm today, Friday, we should invite Alasi to explain what transpired between him and Egbedun. The meeting directed me and Oloyan to carry out the investigation.

“I am expecting Alasi and Oloyan by 4pm today. Egbedun as a representative of Odo local government in government has the support of all of us. He is serving his people and us traditional rulers. He has facilitated projects across the local council and he organised empowerment for the people as well. But I am not privy to what happened between him and the Alasi of Asi. The matter is not a serious issue but we will meet Alasi and discuss with him today.

“I want assure residents of Odo Otin local government and the rest of Osun that whatever disagreement between the two men would be resolved,” the monarch said.

Similarly, the Oloyan of Oyan, Oba Kilani Adekeye, said he has called the speaker and Alasi and he has returned home to intervene in the matter.

“I was not at home when the issue began, The Speaker called me first and told me about it, and that’s why I returned home so quickly. He was trying to explain to me but I told him this shouldn’t be a phone call conversation, we should see face-to-face. He explained to me his take on this issue, I then called Alasi, I spoke to him and Alasi said this matter is beyond him. I asked him what could be wrong. Egbedun said since I have intervened, it is finish. Egbedun is a good child,” Oloyan said. (Daily Sun)
