The Executive Secretary of the National Senior Secondary Education Commission (NSSEC), Dr. Iyela Ajayi, has explained the commission’s rationale for partnering with the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) to enhance the quality of senior secondary education in the territory.

Ajayi disclosed this during a courtesy call on the FCT Mandate Secretary, Dr. Danlami Hayyo, at the Education Secretariat in Abuja.

He noted that the partnership aims to strengthen the existing cordial relationship between NSSEC and the FCT administration, particularly in areas concerning senior secondary education.

“We believe that robust collaboration is key to achieving our shared objectives of providing quality and accessible education for all Nigerian children,” he said.

“Our vision is to see every senior secondary school in the FCT, and indeed across Nigeria, become a centre of excellence, nurturing future leaders, innovators, and responsible citizens,” he said.

The NSSEC boss highlighted areas of potential collaboration, including provision and maintenance of modern learning facilities, training programs for teachers, effective implementation of curriculum, setting high standards and quality assurance, data sharing for informed policy-making, and initiatives to reduce school dropouts.

Ajayi commended the FCT administration for its commitment to educational excellence and expressed confidence that a strengthened partnership between NSSEC and the FCT Education Secretariat would yield significant positive outcomes for senior secondary education in the FCT.

Responding, Hayyo pledged to ensure an improved secondary school education in the territory.

“We are partners in progress. We appreciate your efforts and this collaboration being maximum output. Yes, we will collaborate with you in every aspect. In whatever way you think we can work with you, the door is open to the agency,” he said.
