Anambra NYCN stakeholders frown at shoddy conduct of council elections

By CHIEDU UCHE OKOYE

Comrade Humphrey Okoye (Amadichie ndi ichie Obosi), a National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) stakeholder, has berated the Anambra chapter of NYCN “for its provincial and inept modus operandi”.

His condemnation came against the background of the organization’s alleged shoddy and inept conduct, in Awka on July 19, 2025, of elections into its 21 local government chapters.

Complaints and recriminations have trailed the Anambra NYCN Electoral Committee’s conduct of the elections.

“NYCN has modus operandi; but today’s election exercise is a far departure from what obtained in past successive elections.

“NYCN has to go back to the drawing board and map out strategies on how it will conduct its activities, including elections,” Comrade Okoye said.

In his own remarks, Comrade Gideon Chukwuebuka Nwobosi, who is the incumbent coordinator of Idemili North NYCN, posited that the existence of NYCN is a desideratum as the organization is a platform for grooming future political leaders and harnessing the creative energies of young people for nation-building.

“Youthfulness is a fleeting period of creativity marked by young people’s achievement of great and uncommon feats.

“That’s why the voices of young people should not be muffled; and their perspectives on matters should not be ignored.

“Rather, young people should be included in our national leadership at all governmental strata. And that is the reason behind the formation of NYCN," Comrade Nwobosi said.

On his part, Comrade Humphrey Okoye commended Comrade Gideon Chukwuebuka Nwobosi, who is the Idemili North NYCN Coordinator, for his achievements in the area of leadership and urge him not to rest on his laurels.

“You are doing well as the Idemili North NYCN Coordinator. And your good works are speaking for you.

“So I am advising you to keep up you good works because the stratosphere shall be your starting point,” Comrade Okoye stated.
