The deceased photo journalist, Ayo Aiyepeku
A serving officer with the Nigeria Correctional Service identified as Adebayo Pelumi has allegedly killed a photo journalist, Ayo Aiyepeku, in Kogi State.
Eyewitness account revealed that the suspect, who is currently on the run, hit the deceased on the head, and afterwards butchered him and put his body parts in a refrigerator.
The incident happened in the deceased’s office around Government Residential Area (GRA) in Lokoja, Kogi State.
ARISE NEWS gathered that the fleeing suspect is serving with Zone H in Makurdi, which comprises of Kogi and Benue State.
An eyewitness who did not want his name to be mentioned said, “When we discovered Adebayo Pelumi was killed and his body dismembered, we immediately informed the Police and they have started trailing the suspect”.
The Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) confirmed the incident to Arise News on Wednesday.
“The matter was reported to the Divisional Police Officer, A Division on the killing of Ayo which is culpable homicide. After they lodged the complaint, the Police swung into action by going to the scene. Investigation has commenced.
“The Commissioner of Police CP Miller Dantawaye has given the DPO a directive to transfer the matter to State CID because they are the one handling matters concerning homicide for discrete investigation. Efforts is ongoing to get the suspect who is currently at large. He will be apprehended and prosecuted accordingly,” he stated. (AriseNews TV)
