The National Examinations Council (NECO) says the ongoing Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) will hold as scheduled tomorrow (Tuesday).
The Federal Government on Monday declared seven days of mourning and public holiday on Tuesday in honour of Late former President Muhammadu Buhari, students; schools; and even parents were confused with the development and also anxious to know if the exams would be held.
The Public Relations Officer of NECO, Mr. Azeez Sani, told Daily Sun that the exams would be held as scheduled nationwide.
According to him, the SSCE papers for Tuesday are Physics, Financial Accounting and Basic Electricity.
Sani said the council can’t afford to postpone the three papers because it would affect other SSCE exams.
“The exam, involving three papers is holding tomorrow (Tuesday). We can’t afford to postpone it, if we do so, it will affect other examinations,” he stated.
Also, the State Coordinator of NECO, Mr. A.S. Adedoyin, in a two-paragraph notice to schools in Lagos, said “despite the public holiday declared tomorrow (Tuesday) in honour of the former Late President Muhammadu Buhari, our exams will proceed as scheduled without interruption.”
He urged school principals to ensure that all candidates are available and ready for the exam promptly. (Daily Sun, but headline rejigged)
