Troops of Operation Hadin Kai in operation
The Defence Headquarters has disclosed that a terrorist commander, Ibn Ali, has surrendered with his weapons to troops of Operation Hadin Kai in Borno State.
Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye who disclosed this in a statement on Friday, said troops also arrested five terrorist collaborators and rescued four hostages in the state.
Maj.-Gen. Kangye listed items recovered from the suspects to include some caches of arms and ammunition.
The Director also said troops retrieved and safely detonated some Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) while the sum of N822,500.00 was also recovered.
Relatedly, troops of Operation Fansan Yamma in the North-West within the week, arrested five suspected terrorists and rescued two kidnap victims.
Items recovered during the operations include firearms and ammunitions, as well as motorcycles and the sum of N28,720.00, while terrorists’ camp and other equipment were burnt down.
Meanwhile in the Niger Delta region, troops of Operation Delta Safe destroyed 15 illegal refining sites, arrested eight suspected oil thieves and recovered stolen products worth N263,843,522.00 only.
Kangye gave a breakdown of recovered products to include 198,482 litres of stolen crude oil, 63,846 litres of illegally refined AGO and 947 litres of PMS.
Troops also discovered and destroyed 24 crude oil cooking ovens, 26 dugout pits, 9 boats, 19 storage tanks, 21 drums and 15 illegal refining sites.
The military spokesperson added that troops seized nine vehicles from the criminals and recovered some arms and ammunition as well as IEDs, and IED-making materials. (LEADERSHIP)
