The late Tochi Attah
Tragedy struck at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, as a 300-level Microbiology student, Tochi Attah, reportedly slumped and died while playing football on the campus.
It was gathered that the incident took place near the Elmada Hostel premises on Monday.
Tochi, popularly known as “T-funds”, is a younger brother to the chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Igbo-Etiti LGA of Enugu State, Dr. Simon Attah.
His death was brought to the public by the President of Useh Youths, Sabastine Aku, who released a statement on behalf of the Attah family and the Useh community.
The statement read, “With heavy heart but total submission to God’s will, the Attah family and entire Useh Village sadly announce the passing of our son, brother and friend, Late Tochi Martins (a.k.a ‘T-Funds Exchange’), younger brother to Dr. Simon Attah, the current Party chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Igbo-Etiti LGA of Enugu State.
“He departed suddenly while playing football. May God accept his soul and grant the family comfort during this difficult time.”
Information indicated that the deceased had recently made a switch from microbiology to a medical course before the unfortunate incident.
When contacted on the development on Tuesday, the Chief Safety Officer at UNIZIK, Ken Chukwurah, confirmed the incident, adding that the deceased was a 300-level student of the institution.
“He was our student, but he was not staying at Elmada Hostel. The incident happened on Monday; the school is aware of it. We are still investigating to be sure of what happened and how it happened,” Chukwurah added. (The PUNCH)
