Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke OPWS
In Taraba, troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), dislodged several bandit hideouts and recovered five operational motorcycles used by the criminals.
The Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations for the 6 Brigade, Captain Oni Olubodunde, said in a statement that the intelligence-led operation was launched on July 5, 2025, in remote areas of the southern Wukari Local Government Area, a known stronghold of the notorious bandit leader, Liamdoo Douglas Adekpe, popularly known as Bajor.
He said the operation targeted a meeting reportedly convened by Bajor, but the criminals, sensing danger, fled the scene, abandoning several valuable items.
Meanwhile, in Plateau State, troops of the 3 Division and Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) arrested a suspected militia operative along the Kafi Abu-Rakwok Road in Gashish District of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area.
OPSH spokesperson, Major Samson Zhakom, told journalists in Jos on Monday that the suspect was apprehended during a night operation while positioned in an ambush, likely intending to attack unsuspecting commuters.
He added that troops recovered an AK-47 rifle and 30 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition from the suspect, who is currently in the custody of OPSH.
“Efforts are underway to conduct follow-up operations aimed at arresting other members of the criminal syndicate,” Zhakom said.
He urged the public to continue providing actionable intelligence to help security forces succeed in their mission. (Daily Trust)
