Civilian JTF mistakenly shoots villager in Katsina during ambush operation

Civilian Joint Task Force

A member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State mistakenly shot and injured a villager during a night ambush meant to intercept bandits.

Zagazola learnt that the incident occurred at about 12:30 a.m. on Monday along the Old Bilbis Road, a known route frequently used by bandits, located on the outskirts of Faskari town.

According to security sources, the CJTF had laid an ambush at the location when a group of villagers from Unguwar Gago emerged from the bush on motorcycles, conveying a sick person to a health facility in Faskari.

Mistaking them for armed bandits, the vigilante team opened fire, injuring one Abubakar Sani, aged.

Security operatives later visited the scene and rushed the injured victim to General Hospital Funtua, where he is currently receiving treatment and reported to be responding well. (Zagazola)
