Late business mogul Dantata
By AMINU GARKO
The Saudi Arabian authorities have granted approval for the burial of Alhaji Aminu Dantata, the renowned Kano businessman, in Madina, near his late wife’s grave, Hajiya Rabi’a Dantata, who died in 2023.
Dantata’s Principal Private Secretary, Mustapha Junaid said the burial is scheduled for Monday morning.
Junaid made the announcement on his official Facebook page on Sunday, expressing gratitude with the words:
“Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah… I have received approval to take Aminu Alhassan Dantata from Abu Dhabi to Madina. He will be buried tomorrow morning by the grace of Allah.”
Alhaji Dantata died in Dubai at the age of 94, after a brief illness. His passing triggered a wave of national mourning in Nigeria and tributes from across the globe.
As part of the funeral rites, a special Islamic prayer session (Salatul Ga’ib) was held in Kano on Saturday, attended by thousands of mourners, including top dignitaries such as the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, and prominent clerics.
The Dantata family had earlier announced the business mogul’s wish to be buried in Madina—a request now honored by the Saudi government.
Political leaders, business associates, and members of the public have continued to send tributes, celebrating Dantata’s legacy of philanthropy, integrity, and nation-building. (NAN)
