An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Friday remanded a 17- year-old student (names withheld) in Boys Correctional Centre, Oregun, Lagos, for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs O.O Kushanu, who did not take the defendant’s plea, ordered that the file should be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions for advice.

Kushanu adjourned the case until Sept. 4 for mention.

The defendant, who resides at Block L4, Airforce Base, Ikeja, was facing a charge of rape.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, ASP Adegoke Ademigbuji, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on June 15 at Airforce Residential Area, Ikeja.

Ademigbuji said that the defendant went to the girl’s apartment, knowing that her parents were not at home, and raped her.

He said that the girl later told her mother what had happened and the defendant was arrested.

Ademigbuji said that the offence contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015. (NAN)
