Residents scoop content as diesel-laden tanker falls in Rivers

Fallen Tanker

There was pandemonium on Thursday when a tanker carrying diesel fell around Nkpolu Junction, along the East-West Road in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

According to preliminary findings, the truck lost control and fell into the gutter after a tire burst.

At the time of filing this report residents were scooping diesel despite the efforts of security agents to stop them.

Personnel of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, as well as those of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, were said to have cordoned off the road while the product is being trans-loaded into another tanker.

No casualties have been reported, however, the incident caused substantial damage to a smaller truck parked by the roadside. (DAILY POST)
