Sole Administrator of Ahoada East LGA in Rivers State, Goodluck Iheamnacho
The Sole Administrator of Ahoada East Local Government Area in Rivers State, Goodluck Iheamnacho, has refuted reports of his resignation.
The Sole Administrator of Ahoada East Local Government Area in Rivers State, Goodluck Iheamnacho, has refuted reports of his resignation.
In a radio interview, Iheamnacho claimed he was still in office and urged the public to disregard a letter circulating on social media announcing his resignation.
Earlier, a letter dated June 20, 2025, and addressed to the Government House in Port Harcourt, surfaced, stating Iheamnacho’s intention to step down due to a desire to return to the private sector.
The letter expressed gratitude to the Rivers State Government and the people of Ahoada East for the opportunity to serve.
However, Iheanacho disputed the authenticity of the letter, claiming he had not signed it.
Iheamnacho alleged that he was attacked in his office by hoodlums who took his personal belongings, including documents.
He maintained that the resignation letter was a result of this incident, rather than a genuine reflection of his intentions.
He said, “I did not resign from my appointment as the sole administrator of Ahoada-East. I was attacked in my office, and the letter they brought was not signed by me. I know nothing about the letter.
“I want to tell members of the public that I did not resign as the sole administrator of Ahoada-East, and any other information aired is null and void. I am still the sole administrator of Ahoada-East.”
However, Hector Ekeakita, who is the Chief Security Officer of the council, insisted that Iheamnacho resigned.
He spoke In a live radio interview, dismissing the allegation that Iheamnacho was attacked. He explained that the youths of the council had come in large numbers to demand that the administrator stop allegedly siphoning funds meant for the council. He said the action then led to a scuffle that pressured him to resign.
He said, “He (Iheamnacho) was not attacked by thugs. Let’s tell Nigerians the truth, those were Ahoada-East youths who came in their mass to tell him, ‘please, our brother, you are siphoning money. Just two months in office, you have decided not to take care of our environment.’
“They said he should tell them why the LGA is dirty. No staff come to work. And he stays in Port Harcourt to administer his administration. So the youths were angry and they blocked him, so with that pressure he said he does not want to do it again.”
Iheamnacho’s appointment as sole administrator of Ahoada East LGA was part of a larger development in Rivers State, where 23 local government administrators were appointed by the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Rtd.). (Saturday Guardian)
