Benue residents begin flood prevention exercise

Residents of flood-prone to Idye Village in Makurdi, the Benue State capital have joined government officials to clear all blocked water channels in a bid to prevent another disaster.

The collaboration between officials from the Ministry of Works, Urban Development and the residents whose homes were flooded in the previous week, followed the assessment visits of the committee on flood prevention.

The team was led by the State Deputy Governor, Mr Benson Abounu.

The Deputy Governor assured residents of expanded drainage system and the reconstruction of the failed portion of township roads in the area. (Channels TV)
