The bride and the late groom
It was a tragic day in Gumau and Magaman-Gumau, two towns in Toro LGA of Bauchi State on Saturday, when an intending bridegroom, SP Mustapha Garba Gumau, lost his life just moments before his wedding fatiha.
The late police officer was said to be heading to Magaman-Gumau from Gumau for his wedding, scheduled to hold at 10 a.m. on Saturday, only for him to die at about 9 a.m. in a fatal auto crash, just a few kilometres away.
The crash occurred at a village called Bargan Tsamiya, when the vehicle he and his friends were travelling in was said to have veered off the road and crashed, killing two of his friends, Shuaibu Umar and Sulaiman Musa.
Reports from the area indicated that the three of them died on the spot, while others in the car were said to have sustained various injuries.
As of the time of filing this report, information on the incident was scanty, as the State Police Command could not be reached for confirmation. However, an unofficial source confirmed the incident, pointing out that the Command is currently gathering information about it. (Saturday Tribune)
