9-month-old child, 3 others killed in Plateau community

No fewer than four persons, including a 9-month-old child, have been killed at Nkiendowro Community, in Bassa local government area of Plateau State.

Two women and one man were also killed while two others sustained injuries in the attack which happened on Wednesday.

The four were said to be conveying tomatoes to Nkiendowro community, from where they planned to transport it to Farin-Gada market in Jos.

Josiah Zongo who is the Miango community security commander, confirmed the incident to our correspondent, saying the victims have been taken to the mortuary, while those injured were receiving treatment at an undisclosed health facility.

There is no immediate reaction from the state police command.

In another development, Murish community of Mangu Local Government Area of the state also came under attack last night, but the attackers were said to be repelled by the villagers.

A youth who spoke on the condition of anonymity said the attackers came and were shooting sporadically, but they were able to repel them before they could begin to destroy any property or kill anyone.

He said they were alert In case of any attack or invasion of their communities by marauders.

According to Shohotden Mathias Ibrahim who is Director of Culture Mwaghavul Development Association and Director IDP (Pilot Science) Camp in Mangu, the people are apprehensive.

He called on the people to go about their business peacefully, urging everyone to remain calm.

Mangu and Bassa LGAs have come under attacks recently. (Daily Trust)
