CSP Moses Yamu, spokesperson, Edo State Police Command
Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested 28 suspected cultists.
The suspects were arrested during the raid on criminal hideouts and black spots in the state.
The command’s spokesperson, CSP Moses Yamu, described the arrest as part of the command’s sustained fight against cultism and other violent crimes in the state.
Yamu said, “The command has taken the fight to the houses of identified cult members in the state to ensure that cultism is either eliminated or brought to its barest minimum.
“To sustain the fight, operatives also carried out raids on criminal hideouts within Benin-City, and during the operation, 28 suspects were arrested and professionally screened,” Yamu said after the screening of the suspects, 19 of them were found wanting.
He added that the command had sustained its fight against crimes through visibility policing, community engagements and sustained raids on criminal hideouts in the state.
He warned cult members to either denounce cultism and turn a new leaf and relocate from the state, or face the full wrath of the law. (Daily Trust)
