The Ebonyi State Police Command has apprehended a man simply identified as Mr. Chigozie and his wife, Mrs. Ginika Chigozie for allegedly pouring hot water on their neighbour, Mrs Cynthia Amauche Ucha at Akidi Street, Abakaliki, the state capital.
The victim’s sibling, Miss Ozioma Ucha told Daily Sun that the trouble involving exchange of words started between her sister and Mrs. Ginika but unfortunately, Mr. Chigozie, alongside their children and brother in-law joined the latter and engaged the victim in a fight.
She alleged that Mr. Chigozie and his family members had collectively beaten the widow to a pulp with clubs and other objects before his wife rushed the already steaming pot of water and emptied the content on her sister.
According to Miss Ozioma, the assailant had in several occasions allegedly threatened to deal with the widow before the sorrowful afternoon that they nearly killed her with all sorts of weapon.
“Since my sister packed into the compound, she has been living a secluded life to avoid people’s problem but instead of Mrs. Ginika and her family to allow her manage her widowhood, they decided to worsen her condition by attacking her with hot water after inflicting injuries on her,” she said.
Daily Sun gathered that the accused persons were already from Central Police Station to the SWAT section of the Police Headquarters, Abakaliki.
