Nwagu Agulu -Nnobi-Nnewi Road under construction
As work advances on the dualization of the Nwagu Agulu -Nnobi-Nnewi Road motorists plying the road have raised the alarm on materials used to reconstruct the culverts at Nnobi Junction.
The culverts being reconstructed according to sources, are those at the Nnobi Junction which were cut by Lebtech Construction Company, the company handling the dualization job.
The Construction Company at the time of this report was rebuilding the culverts to link the gutters along the road.
It was gathered that the workers under the construction company were allegedly using inferior and inappropriate materials to reconstruct the culverts at the Junction.
A motorist, who identified himself as Chief Chidebelu Ikebuka, told newsmen at the Nnobi Junction on Saturday that the rod being used to erect the culverts at the Awka Etiti end of the road and the Nkpor end were inappropriate rod.
According to Ikebuka, a civil engineer , the appropriate size of rod for the projects would range from 16 mm and abovei instead of 3mm being used for the job , given the fact that Nnobi Junction is a busy major link road used by heavy duty vehicles.q
The motorist called on the Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Charles Soludo, Commissioner for works Ifeany Okoma to jointly inspect the work with Rony Melec, the managing Director of Lebtech Construction Company to avoid wastage of capital resources on the road, adding that if left to be constricted with substandard, inappropriate materials the culverts would not last long before they collapsed.
“The size of rod for the culverts is allegedly inappropriate. 3 mm is not required for a major road like this one. It would be y waste of resources. Governor Soludo and the Commissioner for works, Ifanyi Okoma should inspect this road with Rony Melec, the MD Lebtech Construction Company”, Ikebuka said. (Saturday Independent)
