Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in Anambra State have recovered dangerous weapons and incriminating materials linked to a suspected kidnap and murder gang.
According to a press release by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the recovery was made on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, following actionable intelligence obtained from a 26-year-old detained kidnap suspect, Ebuka Orizu, who is currently in police custody.
The release reads in part: "Acting swiftly on the tip-off, police operatives stormed a location in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area (which is also the hometown of the detained celebrity native doctor, popularly known as Akwa ?k?k?), where they recovered one locally made Beretta pistol, eleven live cartridges, and two laptops believed to have been used or acquired through criminal operations.
"Further investigations revealed that the suspect, Ebuka Orizu, is a member of a notorious gang that has been operating around Oraifite and its environs, terrorizing residents with acts of kidnapping and, in some cases, murder."
Ikenga said that manhunt operations are still ongoing to track down and apprehend other members of the gang who are currently on the run.
