Kidnappers Shot Dead In Plateau

Jubilation has erupted in various villages of Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State over the killing of at least five suspected kidnappers in Kadil Masudu.

Sources told Daily Trust the incident occurred around 11 am on Tuesday.

Our correspondent reports that bandits and kidnappers have been terrorizing Wase communities for years

This development comes two weeks after kidnappers attacked Dogon Ruwa community in Bashar District on market day, killing one person and abducting a businessmen.

Confirming the killings, youth leader, Shapi’I Sambo, said a vigilante group member lost his life while others were injured during the clash.

He added that a kidnapped victim held captive for over a month was rescued by security operatives and vigilantes.

Sambo said, “It was a deliberate attack by security personnel and vigilantes. We have suffered from bandits and kidnappers, paying ransoms worth millions of naira, hence the need to take difficult decision to follow them to their hideous.”

Abdullahi Usaini, a vigilante group member, said the clash lasted almost an hour.

“Many people are happy because they were dislodged from their hideouts,” he said. “The security personnel, especially soldiers, have tried and shown doggedness.”

The spokesperson of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), Major Samson Zhakom, did not respond to Daily Trust’s call for comment as of press time. (Daily Trust)
