The Idemili North LGA Chairman, Hon. Stanley Nkwoka, has advised top ranking security officers to quit the habit of publicly chiding and scolding errant security personnel who are under their command.
He gave admonition during the inauguration of the Obosi Security Management and Finance Committee, which took place at the Obosi town hall on May 26, 2025.
Nkwoka, also, warned the security operatives to shun excessive drinking of alcoholic drinks and smoking of weeds to prevent the impairment of their faculties while they are performing their duties.
"As senior security officers, don't crucify your subordinate staff when they misbehave or make grave mistakes.
"You reserve the right to beat them with one hand, and call them back with the other hand. But it should be done in secret.
"And I am advising all security personnel, whether police officers or members of Agunechemba team, or members of Anambra State Vigilantes, to abstain from excessive consumption of alcoholic drinks and smoking of weeds.
"Smoking and drinking excessively while you are on duty will have harmful and bad effects on you," Nkwoka said.
More so, the traditional ruler of Obosi, Igwe Chidubem Iweka (Eze Iweka III), who was represented by Chief Okey Mgbemena (Uzie Obosi), assured the Obosi joint security team of his continued support provided that the security operatives are well-behaved and guided by truth.
He also admonished them not to use the power bestowed on them to pursue their self-interests at the expense of the people they ought to protect.
"I will do everything within my power to support you in order for you to continue protecting us and our properties. I would like you to know that providing security for Obosi town is our topmost priority.
"But I am urging you to let truth be your guiding principle while you are performing your diverse duties," Igwe Iweka said.
And in his own speech, the Chairman of the newly inaugurated Obosi Security Management and Finance Committee, Col Sam Agbanusi (RTD), expressed his gratefulness to the President General of the Obosi Development Union (ODU), Barr. Chimezie Obi, for giving him the revered appointment.
He also promised to work with other committee members to realize the goals and objectives for which the committee was formed.
"I am expressing my profound appreciation to the ODU President General for giving me this important post. I am humbled by it.
"So I am making a promise that I would work assiduously and peacefully with other committee members to achieve our collective objectives," Agbanusi said.
The climax of the event came when the Idemili North LGA Chairman, Hon. Stanley Nkwoka, inaugurated the Obosi Security Management and Finance Committee amid cheers by those, who attended the event.
Members of the 32-man committee were selected from natives and residents of Obosi inland and urban town based on the factors of inclusivity, competence, possession of expert knowledge in security matters, and possession of probity.
Some of the important dignitaries who attended the event were Lady Phina Onwuachu, deputy chairman of Idemili North LGA; Hon. Anikpe, speaker of the Idemili North Assembly; Mr. Paul Okoye, secretary of Idemili North LGA; Hon. Obichukwu Anyafulu, Councillor for Obosi ward; Barr.
