NHA National President, Dr Patrick Anyanwu
By AHMED KAIGAMA
The Nigeria Hotel Association (NHA) has urged the Federal Government to provide grants to support the hospitality industry in Nigeria.
Speaking at a news conference on Thursday in Bauchi, the National President of the NHA, Dr Patrick Anyanwu, expressed concerns over the burden of multiple taxes imposed on hotels in some states across the country.
He pointed out the vital role of hospitality business in economic growth, employment generation, and national revenue, stressing the importance of governments fostering a supportive business environment for hotel operators.
He urged state governments to engage in meaningful dialogue with hoteliers to streamline tax policies and enhance industry sustainability.
Anyanwu noted that the appeal was part of resolutions reached at the association?s meeting in Lagos on May 6,
He emphasised the need for all hotels to become members of the NHA, stating that such affiliation not only added to their credibility but also provided a platform for advocacy and shared growth.
?The hotel industry is a significant contributor to Nigeria?s GDP through job creation, tourism development, and service delivery.
?It is crucial that governments at all levels recognise and support this sector through grants and reasonable taxation,? he said.
The president also encouraged hotels to strengthen membership engagement and collaboration to promote best practices and elevate service standards across board. (NAN)
