?Asks other Teaching Hospitals take cue
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu said he will be undaunted in his efforts to provide adequate health care to Nigerians through infrastructure development as part of his Renewed Hope Agenda of the present administration.
Tinubu made this commendation during the commissioning of ten different projects in the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital Gwagwalada (UATH), Abuja on Thursday, was represented by the Coordinating Minister of Health, Professor Ali Pate.
He commended the Chief Medical Director, Professor Bisala Ahmed Ekele for propagating and expanding the scope of the Renewed Hope Agenda in the health sector through coherence between state, federal, local governments and the private sector.
Pate said the federal government has rejigged and reformed the primary health care services, secondary health care and tertiary health care in the country to attend to emerging sicknesses.
?President Tinubu is expanding the health sector through the establishment of teaching hospitals and provision of special centres to cater for ailments desiring government attention,? the minister said.
Earlier, the Chief Medical Director, Professor Bisala Ahmed Ekele, described the month of May as crucial to the health institution particularly its establishment and transfer.
He said in the last twelve months about 10 infrastructure was initiated and completed by the hospital management including the professional, academic and proficiency activities of the staffers of the hospital.
While promising to sustain the eight years success story since 2007, Ekele enjoined the government to continue to invest the hospital particularly its location.
He solicited the President?s attention through the Minister to provide solar farm to the hospital to ameliorate the problems of light.
Earlier, the new Chairman, Board University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Dr Ikechuckwu Odikpe, also reiterated the need for provision of solar farm to the university teaching hospital, stating that he had taken up the request with the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).
Highlights of the occasion by the President was the commissioning of the ten projects represented by the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Development, Professor Ali Pate.
The ten Major infrastructure
Renovations and commissioning includes Male surgical, medical/family planning unit) intensive care unit/assisted reproductive construction unit/50 rooms capacity/senior, 50 rooms capacity/Junior staff quarters , the CT SCAN Department and others.
