A 27-year-old man, Aminu Abdulhamid, was docked in a Kano Sharia court for allegedly beating up his wife, Maryam Bello, after she asked him to pay back the loan she had given him.

The defendant, who lives at Zango Quarters in Ungogo Local Government Area is charged with causing grievous hurt.

The Prosecution Counsel, Zahradeen Abubakar, told the court that Bello, reported the matter at Fagge police station on April 24.

He alleged that at about 5 p.m, the defendant had an argument with the complainant over the money he owed.

The prosecution said that the defendant pounced on her, beat her up and injured her right eye.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 158 and 165 of the penalty code law of Kano state.

When the charge was read to the defendant, he pleaded guilty.

The Judge, Mallam Umar Lawal, ordered the defendant to be remanded at the Goron Dutse Correctional centre in Kano until June 30 for summary trial. (NAN)
