FCT Minister Nyesom Wike
Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, has disclosed that he is threading cautiously over the issue of open grazing across the nation?s capital.
Wike made the remark during a monthly media parley held on Monday in Abuja, emphasizing that governance in Nigeria is a complex and challenging task.
According to him, ?There are many complexities involved, and one has to proceed with caution and a deep understanding of the issues, especially given the numerous crises facing the country.
We must be careful not to worsen the situation. The truth is, no one is happy seeing cows roaming the streets, but governance isn?t like running a private business?you can?t act on impulse.
We?re doing everything within our capacity to address the matter. For instance, before I assumed office, about 1,000 hectares of land had been allocated for grazing reserves.
If I told you the kind of resistance and battles we?re facing over it, you?d understand the challenges involved.?
?The land has been heavily encroached upon by various individuals, including land grabbers, which poses a significant challenge. However, it?s an issue we are committed to resolving?though we must proceed with caution.? (BusinessDay)
